Friday Night Blues PodcastDust my Broom - Just us bloggers eh!
The Beer: Say hello to a Cream Ale from Laughing Dog Brewing in Ponderay, Idaho. She pours a clear honey with a well carbonated one-finger head that dissipates quickly to a slight ring around the glass. It smells mildly of sweet malt with just a touch of pine. The flavors are well balanced and mold together nice - citrus, sweet malt and dashes of pepper. Very clean and crisp - a super summer beer! It has no alcohol content on the bottle but I trust them. Ran me about $6.50 American. Two thumbs up but as always get a second opinion .
The Blues: Behind the back-beat groovy romps with high doses of sexual tension twisted into a melangy mojo bag of call and response. Good enough? Let's get it on:
Playlist: The Blues Experiment (No More Doggin), Tommy Lepson Band (Ace of Spades), R. J. OMMAG : The Father , The Son and the Holy SpiritThe Beer: Say hello to the Winter's Bourbon Cask Ale from the Anheuser-Busch Company. She pours a dark amber with a small off-white head. Smells of vanilla and caramel and the taste follows the nose except for the presence of bourbon mixed with plums. My idea of beer just got turned on its head. Contains 6% alcohol and ran me around $6.50 Canadian in America. Two thumbs up but as always get a second opinion.

The Beer: Say hello to the Shock-Top Belgium White ale from the Anheuser-Busch Brewing Company. It is pretty cool to see AB moving into the craft brewing market. She pours a hazy golden yellow with a two-finger head which dissipates real fast although there is plenty of carbonation. Smells of lemons and orange peels and the taste is sweet with a touch of malt and hops coming through in the citrus flavor. Pretty damn extraordinary from a big brewing company. Contains 5.2% alcohol and ran me around $5.50 Canadian in America. Two thumbs up but as always get a second opinion.
The Blues: This week we are heavy on the horns and finger-tapping big band jazz beats. Exceptional is the deep rolling bass behind Glenn Lane's I'm on Fire and the unique raspy voice of Rab McCullough which plays well with his guitar tone. Did I say guitars? We got some of that too but dig in and feel it out yourself - Come on inside and let's get it on:
Playlist: Big Dave And The Ultrasonics (No Sweat!), Steve Lucky & The Rhumba Bums (O), Mark May & The Agitators (Sweet Shuffle Queen), Loaded Dice (Blues For Sale), Glenn Lane (I'm On Fire), Sonny Landreth (Blues Attack), Rab McCullough (Shame On You), Steve Gornall (Good Woman Blues), Little Mike & the Tornadoes (Nothin but the Blues), Snooky Pryor (Cheatin' And Lyin'), Fillmore Sims (All The People I Could Have Been), Big Time Sarah (30 Days In Jail), Reno Jones (no warning), Debbie Davies (Buzz Me), Mick Martin & The Blues Rockers (Brand New Woman), and Aynsley Lister (Soundman).

OMMAG: It's very nice and I would gladly buy another to share with a friend.
As an extra note please take some time out to visit our new friends at Calgary Blues and Jazz Elements. The Beer: Say hello to the Moose Drool Brown Ale from the Big Sky Brewing Company in Missoula, Montana. She pours a clear dark ruby with a frothy beige head that lasts. The aroma is one of roasted malts and caramel with just a touch of chocolate. It is a friendly beer to drink with its sweet hearty malts and clean hops which give way to some fruitiness that nests nice with a mild nut flavor. Damn yeah. Runs 5.1% alcohol and cost me about $5.50 Canadian for a six (in America). Two thumbs up but as always get a second opinion.
The Blues: Hang on to your hats cause we're going for a ride on an emotional rollercoaster of good times so grab a beer, turn it up loud and let's get it on:

OMMAG : substantial cream coloured head and the body is clear and deep in the amber range
The Beer: Say hello to the Alaskan Amber from the Alaskan Brewing Co. in Juneau. She pours a clear amber with a long lasting creamy head as seen in my plastic hotel cup. It slowly melts down to a thick lace which holds back some mild carbonation. Plenty of malt and coffee in the aroma. The taste is clean with just a touch of hops that fades down to a malty sweetness. Very well balanced. Contains 4% alcohol and ran me $7 American for a six-pack. Two thumbs up but as always get a second opinion.
The Blues: I'm on my way home and all I can think about is sleeping in my own bed tonight - the theme here is obvious, let's get it on:
